Every summer, from the end of July to the end of August, the 2nd largest fish in the world, the basking shark, come to enjoy waters rich of plankton on the coast of West Scotland, and especially in the Sound of Mull. Starting from the port of Lochaline, we were scuba diving on the wall of Calve Island near Tobermory in Mull and snorkelling near the mouth of the Sound of Mull to hope for an encounter with the basking sharks. This video shows you the highlights of the marine fauna of this amazing destination in the Highlands: soft coral, squat lobster, velvet crab, dogfish and of course Basking sharks all around. I was lucky enough to be booked for two weekends to shoot these images. The weather was mostly “Scottish” but we had also some beautiful sun, times to times, and the water was at a quite comfortable temperature of 13°C (when wearing a dry suit!). Read the full story about my encounter with basking sharks.
